Elizabeth Pugliano

Elizabeth Pugliano (PhD, Boston University) is Instructor of Art History at the University of Colorado Denver. She teaches a range of courses including medieval art and architecture (her field of specialty), Greek and Roman art and architecture, Islamic art and architecture, Art History Survey I and II, and Intro to Art in the university Core Curriculum. Her research is balanced between medieval art and pedagogy, and encompasses topics of violence, conflict and combat in medieval art; sensory experience of and in medieval images; identity construction and alterity; empathy; assignment and curriculum development; and writing and communication. She has just begun a redesign of her Arts Core Curriculum course that will examine intersections of visual art with fields represented across CU Denver’s eight colleges.
